WEEK13: SUMMARY OF LITERATURE REVIEW AND METHODOLOGY
Summary for Literature review
From
the literature review of this project, UPC barcode has been chosen to be used
because it is much widely used compared to the other type of barcode because it
is widely used in almost food products. For the barcode scanner, handheld barcode
scanner is the best choice because it is cheap and easy to handle which similar
to the objective of this project which is to build ‘Portable Barcode Scanner
for Halal Product’.
Summary for Methodology
Based
on the methodology, this project is ready to be developed. There might be some
changing in the middle of the project progress depend on the situation.
However, hopefully there might not be a big changing as long as the objectives
and aim of this project are achieved.

WEEK12: CONTINUE..
Summary in introduction chapter
‘Halal Barcode Detection System’ device operate when
user switch on the device. After that, barcode scanner will emit the red laser
light. User need direct the laser to the product barcode. Once the barcode
scanner detects the barcode, it will convert the data into a form of binary
digit before send it to the PIC. After receiving the barcode, PIC will collect
the data on that barcode and sent it to the LCD display and LED as an output.
As the primer result, it can be said that the system
will be developed to detect the barcode and compared it with the reference
data. The result will display the product’s status and the product’s name on
the LCD if the data are match. Otherwise, the LCD will display the statement
which will inform the user that the product’s barcode are not in the list.
Indirectly, it will inform the user that the products are not verified by
JAKIM.
To check for new product, just direct the barcode
scanner to the product barcode. The devices will automatic delete the previous
data and set for the new data. To turn off the device just simply turn off the
power switch.

WEEK7: IDENTIFY HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE USE
The
project can be divided by two main parts which is hardware and software:
A.
Hardware
Development
The
hardware part consists of barcode scanner devices and computer’s screen for
displaying the output result. The suitable barcode scanner has been chosen to
scan the products’ barcode and send display the output result on the computer’s
screen.
B. Software
Development
The software part consists of Visual Basic 6.0
to develop and design the programming. The programming will be used to detect
the products’ barcodes and isolate it by their own categories before displaying
the output result on the computer’s screen.Monday, 1 October 2012
WEEK6: CONTINUE...
Objective
There are few
objectives to be achieved in this project:
- To develop a barcode scanner where it can detect products’ barcodes accurately in order to identify the products’ status.
- To analyze scanned data and display it on computer’s screen using Visual Basic.
Benefict
Halal products are fast gaining worldwide recognition as a new
benchmark for safety and quality assurance. Products that are produced with
halal certification are readily acceptable by muslim consumers as well as
consumers from other religions. But the certification or logo can be modified
by the manufacturer because is not easy to obtain it. With this project,
manufacturer cannot modified or barcode because it have own standard. In other words using barcode is more accurate
compare to logo. This project will help seller who have responsibility about
other muslim care. After that the consumer can find the benefit according to
this project.
